Pellet Stoves Are More Popular

Joseph Coupal - Tuesday, May 14, 2013

Today, nearly one in three stoves sold are pellet stoves, up from just 11% market share in 1999.

Pellet stoves have lower emissions profiles than wood burning stoves. However, pellet stoves have rarely been recognized in rebate and incentive programs as distinct from wood stoves. Distinct incentives from manufacturers or retailers could increase pellet stove sales. Incentives have consumers inquiring about pellet stoves. Once consumers understand how easy to use and efficient pellet stoves are and how easy to store pellets are they are more interested in buying pellet stoves over wood stoves. When consumers find out about the benefits of pellet stoves, the decision to buy is an easy one. Lower heating bills, more heating efficiency and ease of use are just some of the benefits of pellet stoves.

Pellet stoves are an example of a new and effective renewable energy technology. Pellet stoves should be treated like solar and geothermal in the federal tax code, then many more consumers would have a very affordable way to reduce fossil fuels.
